Value-Based Care

As health care costs continue to rise we are always looking for innovative and cost-effective ways to help members get the care they need. One solution that has emerged is value-based care.

Value-based care is designed to reward doctors and hospitals for lowering costs and improving the quality of care they provide.

In the past, doctors and hospitals have been reimbursed for each test, procedure and service they perform, regardless if they were needed or if they helped our members get better. With value-based care, providers (i.e. doctors, hospitals and other health care professionals) are compensated based on how well they help members get and stay healthy.

Our goal is to always help our members improve their health. Value-based care arrangements will give members access to quality care at the right time, at a reasonable cost. As of 2015, more than 30% of our members benefit from our value-based care arrangements and we aim to have 75% of our members benefit from these arrangements by 2020.
